[In She Wrote My Name on the Blackboard, chapter 7 of Blessings at Your Fingertips, Nandell Palmer paid tribute to Miss Martin, his fourth-grade teacher. Here is a beautiful letter sent from the beloved Archbishop of South Africa, Desmond Tutu, pertaining to that chapter of the book.]
Dear Ms. Martin, a former pupil, Nandell Palmer, has written to me, [along with his sending me a copy of Blessings at Your Fingertips.] He told me what a remarkable mentor you were to him and others when he was at primary school. I, too, as a barefoot township urchin, had the tremendous blessing of an exceptional teacher and mentor in my formative years, the Revd. Father Trevor Huddleston. I do not know if I would be who I am today if it were not for him. Teachers can be the most powerful influence for good or the opposite on the lives of young people. You have been a mentor, a guardian angel, a guiding light, a source of understanding and compassion and have been a profound positive influence on the lives of your pupils. Thank you for being such an outstanding representative of a profession that too often is not given the status nor recognition it deserves. Thank you, Nandell, for honouring “Miss Martin” and paying tribute to her. You have become a wonderful, generous, compassionate and caring
person. That in itself is a reward for her efforts. God bless you.
– Archbishop Desmond M. Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Cape Town South Africa
Blessing at Your Fingertips is an easy, folksy, well-written book. In it the author uses humorous anecdotes about relationships, family values, dreams, and the many people that he has met while growing up and traveling the world to show us what we many times forget: that hindsight is not always 20-20. While the book is about our bettering ourselves and others through positive steps, it is at the same time a book about one person’s values and the paths he has taken to where he now finds himself. Towards the end, you’ll realize that the first “Blessing” is right at your fingertips because you’re holding it.

Imagine the first “at-bat” of your favorite major-league player. Did he strike out? Walk? Get a base hit? Perhaps he drove in a run . . . but did he hit a home run? This is exactly what Mr. Palmer has done with this book. Just as a major-league home run elicits excitement, you will feel exhilarated about the opportunities and blessings you have at your fingertips everyday. His stories are compelling and unique. You can almost picture yourself sitting down and having a conversation with him as you read through each chapter. He causes you to take a look at your own life and think about blessings you took advantage of . . . and the ones you “struck out” at. If he does this in his rookie season . . . just wait until he's a hall of famer! He has inspired me to dream bigger dreams! Way to go, Nandell!

Blessings at Your Fingertips is the best Inspirational book I’ve ever read. It has answered so many questions I’ve often asked myself, and has brought a certain peace and calm to many feelings and thoughts I’ve had. It has rekindled wonderful childhood experiences long forgotten and has helped me to be more accepting of self – faults and all. It has also afforded me better insights on how to be more accepting of people and who they really are, as well as the many societal flaws that come with being human. This book is thought-provoking; encouraging; self-empowering, self-atoning; well researched; spiritually based; exquisitely written; synergistic; a blessing to the heart, and trendsetting. I see this book revolutionizing the way in which we feel and think about ourselves. More importantly, I see it being a blessing to us all. Buying this book bears no regrets whatsoever.

Reading this book provokes your thoughts to know God’s purpose for your life. I also realize that I had different kinds of emotions while reading it. There is no way any human being could read even a chapter of this book and remains the same as it relates to his or her mindset. Suffice it to say, this book is definitely God breathed and a must read. I am glad I was made the recipient of this classic. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo, Nandell!

What really struck me about this book is how Palmer was able to weave the commonplace things in our everyday lives to set his readers on a path to greater fulfillment in their own lives. Another captivating moment for me was when he discussed at length how he was able to turn his pastor’s $1 gift into $140 in a 2-week period. That was mind blowing. When he talked about “Dare to be inconvenienced,” I was so fired up to go out and volunteer myself to those who are less fortune, because I know there would be many blessings in store for me. I was savoring this book like a slow-cooked beef stew in winter. I didn’t want it to end! Palmer has a rare gift, which no doubt will touch the world before long. I say, hurry to get your copy!

I have read Palmer's “Blessings at Your Fingertips” and am very impressed with his quite scholarly but simplistic style of writing. Encouraging and eye-opening words indeed! I am convinced that he has been inspired by a Higher Being and startled at his memory of every child in his fourth-grade class! If you are seeking inspiration, grab your copy! Great work, Nandell! Looking forward to the next publication!

I was truly amazed after reading “Blessings at Your Fingertips.” Its writings of the Word inspired my soul. Each section I read was more and more insightful. Personal experiences always make me feel closer to God as I realize I'm not alone. If I was saddened at all, it was because the book came to an end. It also showed me that if my childhood was much earlier entwined with the Lord, it would have made coming into adulthood truly a blessing. All this time, my blessings were right at my Fingertips. Thank you, Mr. Palmer, for putting on paper these awesome words.
